So, my first week back in Seattle (in the dorms, hint hint) has been more than entertaining/interesting. It never ceases to amaze me how much college life is really unlike any other time in life. I mean, we're all barely "adults" (whatever that means), living together in a communal setting, and nobody is ever getting enough sleep. Ever. Thus, this sets the stage for probably one of the most terrifying and hilarious situations in my life so far.
Tuesday night, it is about 3:40 AM. My roommate and I are fast asleep. I'm dreaming about the day when I won't have 8 am classes when I hear what sounds like a fist pounding on my window. Not possible, I think to myself, half asleep. We live on second floor... Must be dreaming. SMACK! I gasp, now fully awake and terrified at what sounds like a small forest creature being thrown into my window. Squinting, I try to see what's going on, but it's nearly impossible because my blinds are down. I hear laughter, mean, college boy, dirty laughter. I don't know whether to be mad or completely freaked out. The pounding starts again and my roommate wakes up. "What is going on?", she asks. "Someone's at the window.", I reply in a terrified whisper. The pounding stops for a moment and we think it's over. SMACK! Glass shatters. S#*t! We gotta run! Not, I repeat, not a joke!!! My roommate and I run to our Peer Advisor down the hall and into her room, trying not to scream. I'm absolutely terrified that whoever just broke our window is in our room trying to find us and kill us. "KATIE! Someone just smashed our window!!! WAKE UP!". Katie immediately gets out of bed and calls Safety and Security. I'm trembling. I'm so full of fear that I can't even think straight. Luckily, I didn't wet my pants, instead I lost about 3 years off my life....
Forty- five minutes later, we find out that two of our guy friends were locked out, barefoot, in their underwear, trying to wake someone up to get back into the dorm (Why? They won't tell.. I think they were pranking someone). After throwing stuff at their roommates' windows and having no response, they tried to wake my roommate and I up and accidently broke our window.
Needless to say, our window is still broken and has been the cause of sudden popularity for my roommate and I in our dorm, which is somewhat comical. Hopefully, it will be fixed next week... But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Our two "window-breaker" friends also owe us dinner, so that will be nice too. I personally wanted to milk the situation a little more, but food's always good.
Welcome back to college, right?
